What is EnviroPoly?
iOrthotics have developed our own approach to 3D printing to create a polypropylene alternative product, known as EnviroPoly. We have invested heavily in research and development to establish a market-leading orthotics solution that is both sustainable and high quality. This has included the testing over 50 different 3D printing materials from around the globe for strength, durability and flexibility; testing the products under duress and patient conditions; testing a wide range of printing methods; experimenting with different designs and eliminating weak points; and consulting with industry professionals and existing customers. iOrthotics also partnered with the University of Queensland to undertake further testing and consult a proven research organisation.
By partnering with the University of Queensland, we’ve brought significant PhD thinking to the products’ development.This partnership will also guide further development and allow us to produce higher quality, research-driven devices.
The benefits of 3D printing
3D printing allows us to customise the patient’s device to a much smaller degree. The orthotic is printed layer by layer, to as small as 100 microns. This creates a better fit for your patient. The end result is a more lightweight, thinner and more durable device compared to traditional polypropylene orthotics. In addition, additive manufacturing (3D printing) allows us to reduce the scale and scope of the environmental impact of plastic and rubber based materials and products in the podiatry industry.
